Thinking Of Renovating Your Home?

If you are considering a renovation to your home, you should strongly consider the ecoEnergy grant program instituted by the federal government.  In addition, there may also be a federal government renovation tax credit program you can take advantage of.

To get more information on the ecoEnergy program, you can start by visiting the National Research Council's grant homepage, as well as a very handy website that includes some information about local municipalities, the climate change central website.  The ecoEnergy program involves getting an initial evalution of your home, through a thorough audit process, and getting a report on improvments you should have done, as well as a list of rebates that are available.  In most cases, upgrades to your insulation will qualify for some form of rebate.

Building a New Home ?

If you are building a new home, there are also rebates available.  All Albertans who take possession of a new EnerGuide labelled single-family or multi-family row home (excluding stacked multi-family construction) on or after January 1, 2009 are eligible for one of the following rebates:   $1500 for new homes receiving an EnerGuide rating of 80 or 81.  $3,000 for new homes receiving an EnerGuide rating of 82 to 85; or $10,000 for new homes that meet or exceed EnerGuide 86.

Since these rebate programs are administered by the Provincial and Federal Governments, and as a contractor, we are prohibited from participating in the audit process, we highly recomend you contact an approved ecoEnergy auditor for more information.
